Date and Time:

Do you know of a community whose quality of life would improve if they had access to oral health care? Have you ever wondered why existing policies exclude oral health care for people that need it and wish you could do something to change those restrictive policies? The American Public Health Association (APHA) is the leading voice for public health policy, and as a component of APHA, the Oral Health Section works to influence key decisionmakers to advance public policy, ensuring oral healthcare is accessible to everyone. We are excited to invite you to this workshop, “Putting Policy into Practice,” where you will learn how to use APHA policies to champion oral health equity. This conversation will center on supporting adult oral health benefits in Medicaid and Medicare. Please join us for this opportunity to unite our voices as we work towards oral health equity together!

  • An understanding of the content of Oral Health Section 2020 policy statements
  • An understanding of how each of us can utilize existing policies to advocate for equitable oral health outcomes for all
  • An opportunity to build skills to use when contacting their state and federal representatives to advocate for oral health
  • A shared understanding of how our collective work impacts access to care and helps shape priorities which support oral health access for all
